Irini has a Master of Arts in Psychology, from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) degree from the University of Western Sydney . She is registered as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA), is a registered Medicare Provider and an Associate Member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).
Irini works with adults online and face to face (Surry Hills, Sydney). She has vast experience and knowledge working within a range of settings and with clients experiencing a variety of symptoms and therapy issues. She is fluent in Greek and has experience working within a multicultural perspective. She began her career 26 years ago within the area of Mental Health, initially developing and running education groups for Greek speaking families with a member experiencing Schizophrenia. She later worked with adults who were experiencing a mental health condition, assisting them to re-enter and maintain open employment. She has also worked with adolescents and young adults who have experienced and/or were at risk of experiencing psychosis. Irini also has experience in the treatment of a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, self-esteem, suicide, grief and loss, relationships, emotional regulation, anger and more.
Irini is a warm, attentive, empathetic and intuitive psychologist who employs a highly client-centred and holistic approach to therapy. Therapy goals are tailored to individual needs. Irini will work with you to collaboratively to achieve your therapeutic goals and will foster a safe non-judgemental therapy space where you can talk and explore what is troubling you. Irini’s preferred therapeutic approaches are broad, eclectic and tailored to the individual client needs. Some of these approaches include, Acceptance and Commitment, Cognitive Behavioural, Solution Focused, Existential, Psychodynamic, Schema, Mindfulness and Somatic therapies (working with the body).
When Irini is not working, she will most likely be found somewhere in the outdoors like the beach staring at the waves, meditating, cooking or eating out, enjoying a good book, spending time with her family and her Pomeranian, travelling or engaging in a cultural activity.
